Gitxaaa
is a Tsimshian community built at Lach Klan on Dolphin Island.
It is one of the oldest continuously-inhabited sites in Canada.
Surrounded by small and large islands, the wealth of the local
resources have sustained the Gitxaaa
for countless generations. Today about 420 people live here. |
Oona River is a remote community
based on forestry and fishing industries. Settled about 100
years ago, it is one of the few small non-First Nations coastal
communities which has managed to survive. About 30 people make
Oona River their permanent home. |
